Select the entire sheet and click on the dialog box launcher icon located in the “Alignment” Group of the Home Tab. The first option, which was Freeze Panes, is now Unfreeze Panes. To freeze the first row and column, open your Excel spreadsheet. ![]() To lock cells or ranges, select them in a usual way by using the mouse or arrow keys in combination with Shift. Select the cells that you want to lock on your worksheet using your mouse. Protect your complicated formulas in Excel by locking down certain cells, or hiding the formulas used in the cells. Click on the Freeze Panes button and click on the Freeze Top Row option in the popup menu. ![]() Click that option and the frozen rows will be unfrozen.
